Web Design: How can I help my client find out who they registered their domain name with?

My client registered a domain name for his website a couple of years ago. The problem is he doesn’t remember what website he registered it with (godaddy, bluehost, yahoo, etc). How can I find out who he registered his .com with?

Use http://DNSStuff.com/ or http://WhoIs.com/ and eneter the domain name or IP address to get the registration info.

If he still has the login info and can access the Control Panel, then he can find all this in the Domain Manger inside the Control Panel listings.

Hi, Just do a WhoIS research of your domain on Google or Yahoo or on any of these free online services.

Open Internet Explorer –> Types http://www.whois.sc in the address bar. Once the site is loaded, it’s gonna ask for the name of the website to lookup. Type the name of the site to lookup and click search.

You’ll get all information you need.

If you do a WHOIS lookup, the registrar is the name of the company that did the registering.

Whois is definitely the best way to find out. It can be pretty confusing though trying to find the link to look up the website. Here is a direct link to the form to find out:

    http://domains.whois.com/domain.php?action=whois

Just enter the address and type in the security key and away you go!!

    Good luck!
