Bringing Fair trade into the 21st century!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Where is the worlds busiest trading centre? Where does most money change hands every day?

Chinas’ canton fair?…wrong. London’s Oxford street?… nope. In fact more deals are made right here on the internet than anywhere else. While this is great for most businesses not everybody can compete with the Chinese sweat factories. In this modern world where no information is more than a few clicks away, where hundreds of suppliers prices can be instantly compared only the leanest can survive.

This had meant that many Fair trade cooperatives have simply abandoned e-trade preferring to sell in the old fashioned way, often spending months, and money they don’t have chasing leads only to be undercut by a Korean super factory or a Pakistani sweat shop.

This cannot continue.

With that in mind I recently set up www.fairersource.com. A website dedicated to helping small Fair trade (as well as carbon neutral and sweat free) producers bring their companies’  into the twenty-first century.

How can you help?

We are not asking for your money. We never have and we never will. But a few minutes of your time would be invaluable to us. By simply placing a link to us on your website, your face book page your you tube profile and wherever else you can will help us hugely!

For us to succeed we need to be ranked well on google (that is when you search for us we need to be right at the top of the page) the more links that are “pointing” to us the better.

So just copy and paste www.fairersource.com wherever you can and you’ll be helping us help the world!

What else can you do?

By simply visiting our website and reading the advertisements  you’re helping us pay to keep the site online (we need to pay for servers, domain registration and a bunch of other things). Whenever an advertisement is clicked  we get paid. As well as that we take great care in selecting who advertises on the site so there’s lots of really interesting stuff to look at!

Last but not least…

Petition your local shops! This is probably the most important thing that you can do. There’s no need to be impolite or formally protest (although that’s great too) simple comments made to managers like “Oh, I saw you got some fair trade t-shirts in,  that’s awesome” or “ have you got any carbon neutral clothes?” really do make a difference.

Registering A domain name even if the name is Trade Marked?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Lets say Bob has the name Bob’s Burger Shack trade marked & I go out and buy the domain name www.bobsburgershack.com can I be sued? Im not going to try and make a website or anything, its a sell it & make cash deal. If I list that name For Sale on the domain aftermarket will I be breaking the law? I mean it aint my fault Bob is slacking off on his job!! By the way, the name is not Bob, its much bigger than that! Thanks in advance.
