Sunday, May 2nd, 2010Hey,
I got asked to make a business website for someone, and they want a legit website ‘dot com’.. now I have made websites before but I always used free hosting and what not, mainly because it was more of just a hobby for me..
So.. I need to find a good legit company that sells domain names and hosts the website and offers good bandwidth with email accounts tied to the domain and ftp capible..
Basically what I need is the works, this is a small company so I don’t think the bandwidth is going to be insanely high but still, looking for an anual payment also..
I have no real knowledge of working with domains and don’t want to go about this wrong so some info on this would be great,
Looking for a good legit company that offers hosting and domain registration..
How does this work exactly? Do I just register the domain and pay for it and then find a website hosting company and route to the domain or what? Or is there companys that offer it all, and what are some if so..
Thanks!

Some Things to Consider When Choosing an Affordable Hosting Reseller
Saturday, May 1st, 2010It’s a given that if you’re looking for a web space reseller, you’ll look for an affordable hosting reseller. Practicality takes priority in every purchase, and no matter what you intend to do with your web space, or the features that come with the web space you get, cost is the first thing that you should take into consideration. Refer to the following checklist when shopping around for cheap web space:
1. How much are you ready to spend? Owning your own web space has pretty much become a fixture in the reality of modern enterprise, and if you’re planning to get a host for business purposes, you’d better be ready to shell out the kind of money that will buy you the features and the quality of service that you need. A truly noteworthy affordable hosting reseller will be able to help you maximize your spending capacity.
2. What are your immediate needs? Can you cut down on a few features that may seem “cool” at the onset, but you won’t really need? Browsing around mailing lists, message boards, and other online forums, you may find recommendations for features that are classified as “must-haves,” but really isn’t a must-have for you at all.
One example of this is multiple domain hosting. Multiple domain hosting is the capability to host and distribute a limited (or unlimited, depending on the kind of hosting package that you get) number of domains in a single web space – for example, you can have both mywebspace.org and mysecondwebspace.net in just one web account! Some resellers offer that, and it’s good for people who want to maintain multiple sites, or become resellers as well.
But if you only plan to have one small website, which uses only one domain, you can significantly streamline your spendings if you seek out a reseller that doesn’t offer multiple domain hosting. If you only want to host a personal web space, you may even do away with domain hosting altogether, and settle for a VERY cheap reseller who’ll just let you “park” in his or her domain with only a subdomain or subfolder to your name!
3. Are there any good promos going around? Now this is something you’ll have to keep your eyes out for. New reseller outfits often drive down their prices as part of a “promo” package, in order to attract new customers. A discounted shiny new one-year package, or an “early adopter” advantage, is always easy on the wallet. Some people even move from reseller to reseller as soon as the next big promo comes along – until they finally decide upon an affordable hosting reseller to stick with for the long haul.

Can I buy some space from a web host without having a Domain name?
Saturday, May 1st, 2010Potential Dangers of Expired Domain Business – Some Precautionary Tips
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010
Investing on expired domain names could be very risky and dangerous if you are not careful enough in managing them. The perceived potential of earning huge income is very high with very good domains. On the same vein, the chances of losing your money in the business could also be very high especially when you commit blinders after blunders. Most of the newbie domain traders commit lot of mistakes while managing their business operation. Most of them who buy expired-domains end up in making huge losses by adapting very bad trading methods.
Newbie domain traders should remember that maintaining their domain names is actually very costly and difficult. Each additional expired domain may cost them an extra $25 to the overall maintenance bill and this figure recurs every year as well. In reality, the actual cost of $10 as annual renewal fee may not look very big. However, a big portfolio of domains may cost you too much money in combination. Sometimes, you may need to spend an additional amount of about $3 for each domain in the maintenance process.
When combined, the annual renewal fees to be payable on a stock of expired domain names could dent your pocket in a big way. To bridge the gap or to maintain the renewal parity, you will need to sell some of them at good profits. Otherwise, you will be sitting on a stock of expensive domains that are almost useless. Let us say that you have a stock of 100 expired domains. Let us assume that each one of them costs around $10 as annual renewal fees. In total, the cost renewing all the 100 domains come to about $1000. This is a huge sum of money for any domain trader. In order to cut losses, you will need to create a turnover of a minimum of $1000 by selling some of them. This amount is just enough to cover the cost of renewing those domains. This is possibly the most frustrating thing with selling expired domain names.
On the other hand, expired domain business becomes commercially unviable when you buy a few numbers of domains. The average selling rate for an ordinary expired domain name is about $25. It means that if you do not sell a name, you will be investing another $1o towards annual renewal fees. In all, you will be creating a loss of $10 every year on a domain that sells at $25! Sitting down on an expired domain is likely to cause accumulated losses every year. Domain traders always commit the mistake of waiting for that big sale in the hope that it will bring a huge income!
Many domain traders also commit the mistake of buying expired domains that come with assumed traffic. However, the traffic associated with an expired domain could be of very bad quality and most of these incoming links are not sustainable. Real traffic comes only when someone types the actual URL of the domain. Also known as organic traffic, this provides you a great opportunity to earn decent profits.
