Tuesday, June 1st, 2010Small Business Website Solution
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010Marketing and specifically internet marketing should be a core business activity of every SME in today’s economy. Ignoring the web or not perceiving its true value to help drive SME’s out of hardship could be at the peril of survival. The internet is a cheaper forum for testing and measuring. Mistakes don’t cost as much as mistakes with traditional forms of off line marketing and advertising.
The first small business website solution is of course to build your own website from scratch. If you not particularly internet savvy this can take some considerable time and if you are not careful the end result can be less than professional. On the other hand, this is typically the cheapest way to get an online web presence and so potentially attract new business to your door.
Before you set up your website there are number of steps or stages, that you must go through before you start developing your site. These are basic things such as market research, choosing a domain, name, selecting a website hosting provider, deciding on your business model, and planning a marketing strategy.Sure, free and cheap website templates can save you money on the front end, but it’s going to cost your dearly on the back end. Small business websites using FrontPage, Publisher or clipart graphics need to be redesigned. The above technologies will seriously damage your credibility and professionalism. Step up and run with the big dogs! Web design advancements have leapt past these templates and made them virtually obsolete. If you’re still using a starter website or free website template, it is definitely time for a website redesign.
Always remember that specialists work affordable and efficiently. They use a powerful combination of a proven process and a comprehensive suite of of advanced site-building tools,to make sure that you are successful on-line. Leaving you with more money and time for other parts of your business, the productivity benefits are passed on to you.
Nevertheless, it is not easy to build a website and it does cost too much time, in addition you have to deal with codes that you might not be familiar with. However do not be skeptical because there is always a solution. There are so many web developers out there that are ready to help you and get their payment in return. There are as well website development tools that can help you although you have to deal with the codes yourself and spend most of your time on it.
Most of the small business firms waste their time in convincing potential customers about their quality products and service. If you want to get noticed, and wish to promote your small business in a competitive market, you surely want to create a website that is professional and user friendly. By studying the client’s budget, their present marketing strategy and business targets, the website design firms deliver small business website design services that meet your needs.
Many small businesses target local market and end consumers, while large corporations may aim at national or global market and try to please business users. The differences between markets and user characteristics are reflected in the layout, design, navigation and online content. For instance, websites that target end consumers may use a crispy layout and less formal language with easy navigation. One of common mistakes in Web Design is the over-use and even abuse of graphics. Even today, a certain percentage of the web users at home doesn’t have high speed broadband connection, not to mention the over-use of graphics prevent the visitors from spending time on your online content.
Small business website development.- All you need to do is hire a specialist, that will together with you develop information about your niche, so that prospective clients will visit your website. This enables you to own your on-line niche, by giving information and solutions to your potential customers. The frame work and the foundation of your business website, will please both humans and the search engines. Once approved by you, your domain name will be registered.
Putting up a small business website content writing service isn’t really a novel idea. Given that there are so many people who are switching to a freelance career, there are more ways for small businesses to be able to get somewhat of a consulting or PR service for significantly less the cost compared to how big publicity companies/advertising agencies would usually charge. It would also prove to be very beneficial if you are able to provide them with samples of your work.
How to Buy a Small Business Website in Portland
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010There are many things to consider if you want to buy a website for your small business. If you live in a town like Portland, Oregon, which has more than its fair share of web designers, buying a website can be overwhelming. This handy guide will help you with some of the basics.
There are five ingredients?that you will need if you want to create a successful website for your small business in Portland.
These are:
Hosting
- You’ll need to find a hosting company that gives you a good price and allows enough bandwidth for what you want to do
Domain name
- Is your domain name already taken? In that case, how much does it cost to purchase it? Many small business names now originate from available domain names.
Planning
- You’ll need to plan out the design for your website before you begin talking with a web design company or a web developer. The planning stage is crucial and it will save you time and money.
- Clearly articulate who the audience is going to be.
What type of website would you like to have? Your site can be informational like a high tech marketing pamphlet. It can also be an e-commerce storefront or a social networking hub. Or it can be a hybrid of several different types. There are no limits to what an affordable small business website can be.
- Make a list of your websites contents. Will it have video or will it use Flash? Will your customers be able to contact you from your site?
- Make sure you know why you need the website. Try to write down in two columns the features your business needs and wants from a website. A needed feature is one that you cannot continue without having. A wanted feature is one that you can postpone until phase 2.
- Make sure that you articulate how the website will look before you present it to a web designer. Browse other websites that you like, and feel free to draw sketches of your web pages. You can even draw a map of where the pages will be in relation to each other.
Promotion
This may be the most common stumbling point for all new website owners. It is not as simple as if you build it, they will come.?Just like a brick and mortar storefront, you have to promote it.
- Your website is where your brand lives in the online world. Take advantage of every opportunity to direct people to it from the physical world. Put it on your business cards, stationary, and marketing materials.
- There are many ways you can optimize your site for search engines as well. This is called Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, and it is the crucial difference between getting zero visitor or millions of visitors. Many Portland web designers offer at least a minor degree of on-page SEO, so make sure your site is optimized for search, no matter what.
Maintenance
This would be the care and feeding of your website. Your website is not static like a neon sign. It is a powerful way to communicate with your customers. To make it work, it will take time and effort.
- Set aside time to post a regular blog, videos, and press releases. Your customers need a reason to visit your site regularly.
- Web developers can maintain your site, or you can do it yourself with special editing software.
- A Content Management System, or CMS, can also be used to edit your site without the addition of expensive software. Most CMS systems pay for themselves in the first 2 hours of use, rather than paying hourly rates for web designers.
Ask these questions and more to ensure you have a solid understanding of what is involved in setting up your website, and getting it found in the Portland, or Pacific Northwest? regional markets. Soon you will be on your way to finding a great web development company, and an outstanding deal on a website design.
Simple Steps To Set Up Small Business Web Hosting
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010Most of you out there who has just started a business or is currently running a small business assume that web hosting is only performed by big companies. This is not true, as small business web hosting has become one of the most effective forms of advertising in the market. When building your personal business hosting site, there are several steps and precautions that you should follow and take note of. I have summarized them up into five simple steps for you to follow.
The first step is making sure that your web host provider performs system backups on the site daily. This guarantees you that all the web files in your site are secured in case of any accidents such as a sudden server failure. This feature should be included in the monthly payment so make sure that the provider does not charge you extra for system backups.
The second thing that you should take note of is web hosting sites that offers at least a 30-day money back guarantee. This is essential as it permits you to withdraw from the site without losing any money if the provider does not follow through with all that he has promised. This is very often listed in the small print so read the small print carefully, digesting word by word.
Thirdly, in order to ensure that people all around the globe can view your site, your site must always be up and running 24/7. This is because there are different time zones in the world so it is crucial to always make sure that your web hosting provider has a dependable and excellent server infrastructure that should be running 99% of the time.
The fourth step is ensuring that the web hosting provider provides you with a technical and customer support that runs 24/7. Failing which, problems faced will not be resolved promptly thus resulting in loss of business. When visitors or potential customers cannot access your site, they will search for other sites. You may lose them for good…!
The last precaution is to check carefully the services and features offered. The main thing that you must be careful is checking the bandwidth (which controls the amount of people that is able to view your site), disk space (controlling the amount of information and data that is able to be uploaded onto your site), and also the programming language (language that the site runs in). Determining that these three services are up to your requirements will raise the level of satisfaction obtained from hosting the business site.
Should I use Dreamhost or A Small Orange?
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010I’m starting a small business and need to build a website at little cost. What are the best hosting sites?
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010All Grown Up: Why your Small Business Needs a Web Solution not a Website
Monday, May 3rd, 2010Raise your hand if you have a website for your small business. Now keep it raised if it is generating a significant volume of prospects or sales. Not holding your hand up anymore? You are not alone.
Just a few years ago, small companies flocked to the web in droves, rushing to post their first website, anxious at the prospect of low-cost instant exposure. The web was going to be the great equalizer, putting small business on par with the big brand names, dangling the promise of visitors flocking to a company’s site to purchase its wares or partake in its services. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, for most small businesses and organizations, the promise fell short and company sales did not skyrocket from an unending march of site visitors.
So, what happened? For one, the web quickly became ultra competitive. Millions of sites sprang up in every business category making it virtually impossible to be found in the search engines. What little bit of traffic the businesses may have enjoyed when the site was first launched began to dry up. Also, as the web evolved to become a more interactive user experience, it became more technologically complex and many small business websites did not keep up. The other part of the problem was in the approach; not understanding that just putting together a website, even a pretty one, and finding some faceless company offering cheap web hosting services is not likely to make you the next great success story. A large hurdle that many small business owners and managers face is the tendency to compartmentalize the web into a few oversimplified tasks: grab a cheap domain name, find a budget small business website design and development person, look for some impossibly low-priced website hosting, and then expect their website to magically appear on page one of Google. Unfortunately, this ends up being a waste of time and money.
A Solutions-Based Approach with Professional Guidance
To create an effective web presence requires a solutions-based approach with clear ideas about what you want to accomplish and who the audience is you are targeting. The right elements have to be present; a well orchestrated website design with cohesive branding, solid technical acumen, clearly defined objectives for the organization, reliable small business web hosting services and some method of marketing your site and tracking the results. The web is constantly evolving and search engine competition is fierce. Being successful on the web requires consistently evaluating the site’s effectiveness based on your objectives, understanding the latest technologies and trends, having a dynamic website marketing plan and constantly fine tuning.
While you don’t have to spend a fortune to create real value on the web, you should also be realistic. Understand that being successful will require an investment that you should plan for and a clear vision of how your website fits into the goals and objectives of the organization. If you don’t have the experience and technical resources in-house, working with a professional web solutions provider, preferably one specializing in small business web design and development can provide great benefits. A good starting point in the process is to have an understanding of the core elements that are part of a successful website strategy and how they fit together.
The Elements of a Web Solution
1) Domain names – Choosing the right domain name is an important branding decision which impacts how your organization is perceived and also how it is found in the search engines. Purchasing from a cheap bulk registrar or choosing can spell trouble.
2) Website Design & Development Services – Find a provider that specializes in small business web design and development. An organization that offers a solutions-based approach can assist your company in doing thorough needs analysis and in designing all of the elements to work well together. First impressions count!
3) E-mail Management – E-mail is a key communication tool for your business. The right system will help you maximize communications within the company, on the road and with your customers.
4) Social Media – Social media such as blogging, Podcasting and other web 2.0 tools can greatly enhance customer communications. Your web services company should be able to help you evaluate how social media tools can best benefit your web presence and business objects.
5) Small Business Website Hosting Services – All web hosting is NOT created equal. There are many nuances and technical consideration involved with hosting solutions. It is best to stay away from budget hosting companies. Look for a managed hosting provider who can help you select the right plan for your web solution goals, get your website up and running and support you as it grows and evolves.
6) Website Maintenance – How will your site be maintained and updated? Having both small business web development and managed web site hosting as a package is immensely helpful for maximizing web server resources, identifying problems and keeping the site maintained and updated.
7) E-Commerce – Will you be actually selling on your site or using it for lead generation or information dissemination? If you are selling products, who will create and maintain your product database. How will transactions be handled? What about web server requirements? Working with a professional can help ensure you make the right choices for your e-commerce site.
Business Process Interaction (database development, customer relationship management, integration with your business management systems) – A website needs to be more than just an ad on the Internet to be effective as a business tool. There are many ways the web can be used to improve your business processes and integrate with your existing systems such as accounting or contact management.
9) Website Marketing – How will people find you on the web? Will you optimize your site for organic search or employ paid marketing techniques or a combination? What directories should you list your site in? Search engine marketing has evolved to be a complex specialty. It’s critical that you understand the tools available for driving traffic to your site and if needed, know how to evaluate and engage a web marketing specialist.
10) Website Analytics and Conversion – Having a great site isn’t enough if your visitors aren’t doing what you intended; buying something, contacting your company or using your site for an information source. Does your site have usability issues? What kind of reporting will you use to track site visitors? What do you need to know and do to convert your visitors into action-takers?
It’s a Process and a Work in Progress
While there is certainly a lot to think about, creating the best possible website solution for your business doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Your website can and should be a work in progress, evolving as your business grows. Because most small businesses do not have an internal IT staff to handle the technical elements of web development and planning, working with a web solutions provider that specializes in small business website hosting services and small business web design and development is a good start. Such an organization can help you identify your goals, manage the technical aspects of your site and guide you in your marketing efforts. They can also help you work within your budget to develop a plan that combines all the elements into a cohesive whole for creating and maintaining a successful web presence.
Conclusion
The web has grown up to be a terrific marketing medium for small businesses and organizations. Done right, it can be the most cost effective and powerful marketing and communication tool in your arsenal. The promise is still there. However, to truly leverage the power of the web, it is important to take a good, hard look at the website you currently have or the one you are thinking about creating. The elements of a successful web presence: small business web hosting, website design and development and web marketing are only the framework for a well thought-out web solution designed to reach your customers and truly benefit your business.
Starting A Small Business With Global Domains International
Monday, May 3rd, 2010I just want to thank you for taking an interest in this article and thank Global Domains International for being great to me and my family. This article is not intended to sell anything, this article is to explain how easy, and how I, am marketing my Global Domains International websites.
Look, I wanna’ share a couple of things with you today and apologies if this article turns out to be a bit lengthy.
The first thing…
I want to tell you about my own experiences with GDI International.
The second…
…I’m going to let you in on a little secret, I only recently became a member of GDI International.
The Third…
I also want to tell you about an affiliate strategy I’m currently using that’s making around
$280 per week so far. It’s getting better.
Ok…first things first…Last month I ‘celebrated’ my 1st year in online business. It’s been one heck of a ride…
so far for both good and bad reasons…
Although everything is going great now, the truth is it wasn’t always plain sailing; not by a long way. The problem I had (and I’m sure you can concur with this) was that when I started, I tried to pursue far too many avenues at the same time without ever sticking to something for more than a couple of weeks. I spent an absolute fortune (a fortune to me) snapping up every little bit of information I could lay my hands on in the hope of finding the ‘magic pill’ that would make me millions overnight.
But I did not find it.
In fact, all this “research” resulted in one thing. DEBT. $11,000 of it to be precise, wasted on crappy courses, mentoring programs and ebooks. In hind sight, the problem was elementary; Most of the people I tracked down selling these so-called money making systems had been created by people who’d never actually made a dime themselves.
Get rich quick schemes = no real business. Anyone who tells you otherwise should check what they’re smoking.
Obviously, not everything was bad…
I still have some memorable courses sitting on my book shelf and still a burning desire to make some serious money.
…although if I were to be totally honest they didn’t help much either because at the time I lacked the experience necessary to implement their strategies. Make no mistake about it: Whether you’re successful or not depends entirely on whether you have the time, skill or money to set things up in the correct manner while avoiding the common pitfalls which lead the majority of new internet marketers to failure.
In other words…Set things up right, you can create a community of people with the same goals and desires, and the way GDI International is setup, any failure would be your own. Do it wrong, and you’re just wasting your time while tearing up $100 bills at the same time. As I said, I also want to tell you about an affiliate strategy I’m currently using that’s making around $280 per week. You may know about this already, but if not, it’s certainly something you should consider pursuing. I’m just going to run through this in point
Here we go…
1. I researched proven companies and that have the potential
to make unlimited income based on my efforts.
(Found GDI International)
2. I created a webpage (a .com or .net website with a catchy name Blueeasy.net, UnderwearCEO.com) that
pre-sells the product instead of simply recommending it or sending directly to my GDI website. (The .Net and .Com are pre-sell sites, the .WS are my GDI websites I purchased) The reason I have my sites listed here is because you need a sponsor to sign up under with GDI, that’s how it works.
BlueEasy.net BlueEasy.ws UnderwearCEO.com UnderwearCEO.ws
3. In the pre-sell I explain to the potential buyer (In a Video)
the basics of this particular product (Global Domains International) I then add the links to
my GDI webpage (My .WS Sites) that I purchased for $10 / month and GDI
does the rest. GDI has many tools; this is just how I do it.
4. I then set-up a new Adwords campaign (Google Adwords) bidding only
on very tight keyword variations for the exact product of the presell site.
For instance, if I was promoting UnderwearCeo ‘Website for Life’ , I would
only bid on keyword phrases such as:
Online Business
Website for Life
Home Business
…and so forth.
(TIP: Remember to also use ‘broad’, ‘phrase’ and
‘exact’ match types within Adwords.)
LEARN THIS - YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE TIME.
YOU CAN’T GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.
5. I made my bids high enough to grab the number #1
Ad spot and get exceptionally high CTR’s(Click Through Rate).
I also edited the campaign settings and selected a ‘position
preference’ of 1 to make doubly sure I’ll be right
at the top.
6. After initially sucking up a rather terrifying
CPC (cost per click) of around $.24, I’m slowly lowering
my bids each day while maintaining a very high CTR.
7. Visitors like you then sign up on the website for the 7 Day Trial
or request information, In that Case I Refer them to “7 Day Trial”
or the more information Video “More Information”. These links are
to my .WS website and have my affiliate number and generate
commission for me as I sign people up. GDI also sends you Emails
in regards to potential partners like yourself. I then personalize and send them an email
I made and repeat the process. That’s all I do. When people need help - There are
GDI tools and a help desk, webinars, and you can email me or anyone in your upline for help.
So…
This is the part where I say…
THIS COULD BE YOU “Mr. Prospect”
Either way GDI has more tools and lots of people to help. I hope you read the whole email, $10 a month is really nothing,
especially with the money you can make. Remember if this is not for you just cancel your .WS domain name through
the GDI dashboard and that’s it.
Just one last thing… “Here is where I ask:”
7 Day Trial or More Information
That’s all I do.
Thanks for reading…
Good luck with you marketing, Please visit my site and see if this is something you could do. Thank you
