Monday, May 3rd, 2010My modem is Thomson Speed Touch 536. Wireless router – Trendnet TEW 411 BRP plus. The ill informed Singnet technical support unable to advise how to configure so that the router & modem can “talk”. Any SingNet Broadband customer knows?
Singnet fellas say try using Singnet Broadband or singnet.com.sg as the host or domain name but does not work for me still. It seems they are taught to configure Linksys or D Link routers only. Others they say they are not trained.
Steps for Setting Up Custom Domain Using Godaddy Account
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010Hi, converting a blog to Custom domain is very easy (because, the complete hosting procedure will be taken care by the blogger itself), but if you buy a domain from GoDaddy or other webhosting services, then you have to manually create the settings in the blogger as well as in your domain manager. This is a very easy step. Just follow the steps below.
1. Log into your Blogger Account -> Settings Tab -> Publishing Tab.
2. Click on “Switch to Custom Domain”.
3. Now, Click on “Switch to advanced settings”.
4. Enter your domain {Ex:Techzene.com} -> Enter the Word Verification and Click Save Settings
5. On the next page, Check the box [Redirect techzene.com] -> Enter Word Verification -> Save Settings. Now, you will be shown “Congratulations, your blog is ready!”
6. Now, Log into your GoDaddy Account & Go to Domains -> My Domains{Domain Manager}.
7. Click on your Sitename & Open Nameservers Link.
8. Enter [NS09. DOMAINCONTROL.COM] for Nameserver 1 and [NS10. DOMAINCONTROL.COM] for nameserver 2. Make sure, you selectedCustom nameservers.
9. Now, Click on Total DNS Control and MX Records.
10. Delete any existing A records if any (the ones at the top)
11. Click on “Add New A Record”.
12. Enter the details as shown in below figure & Click OK.
13. Delete the CNAME that has a Host of www
14. Click Add New CNAME Record
15. Put www in the Enter an Alias Name field, ghs.google.com in the Points to Host Name field and leave the TTL as 1 Hour. Click on OK.
NOTE: The settings may take 1 hour to be saved and to be worked.

Setting Up Your Domain With Domain Parking Pages

Popular Source of Revenue
Domain parking is a popular source of revenue for those domain names not in circulation for one reason or another. When you consider the income likely to be achieved from visitors being directed to domain parking pages, the sky can be the limit. From as few as a couple of clicks a month to many thousands for a popular domain name, you can see why there has been such an industry built up around developing a domain portfolio. Directing targeted traffic towards those nameservers, however, increases the likelihood of revenue being earned. This is one of the reasons why dedicated Domainers prefer to set up their nameservers to automatically point towards their domain parking pages. This is not that difficult to do if you know how to go about it.
Configure your Domain Name
Once your domain name has been registered you need to configure your domain name in your name server. Next, you need to point your hosting provider to your dedicated web server. This can be done by adding a new Virtual Host per each registered domain name to each of your existing Virtual Hosts. You now need to give your newest Virtual Host a unique name – one that will not clash with your other Virtual Hosts. This can be where it all gets horribly complicated: talking about DNS server and NX domain redirect. Basically, you need to configure your name server [in other language, the DNS server] back to the IP address of your web server. An NX domain redirect simply means that your name server is returning a non-existent domain name response.
Web Server and IP Address
If your DNS server has been configured to deal with requests through Apache then it is reasonably straightforward – apart from user confusion, that is! Basically, you have two name servers, called: ns1.mydomain.com and ns1.mydomain.com, and a domain name that has been registered. Your registered domain name needs to point to ns1.mydomain.com and ns1.mydomain.com, where ‘my domain’ corresponds with the name you have registered and your name servers. Using the Apache system, each computer has an IP address and your web server listens to your IP address as a result of the name servers above. Meanwhile, Apache need to have each Virtual Host defined by specific unique names.
Domain Parking Pages
I am sure you are now well and totally confused! In a way, that is the intention because if you take a look around CPanel you should find domain parking pages being offered without needing to know how to get around the intricacies of CPanel. This is what you are being offered by the domain parking pages such as you see with some of the domain parking services now available online. Comparatively few people have either the time or the inclination to get their heads around how to configure your name servers to correspond with your web servers etc, so domain parking services fulfil the need and provide a one-stop service for choosing and registering your domain name, and provide everything necessary on their domain parking pages.

Setting Up Awstats For Your Website On Blacknight
Friday, April 2nd, 2010Setting Up a Domain Name Using Godaddy.com
Friday, April 2nd, 2010
As you build your network marketing business, there are a couple of reasons why you will want to register your own domain name with a service like GoDaddy.com.
Having your own domain name will add some instant credibility to your business. Instead of sending prospects to a website like yourname.youraffiliateswebsite.com, you can direct them to your personal domain name yourbusinees.com. E-mails you send out can now come from yourname@yourbusiness.com instead of a free service like yahoo or gmail.
You will also need a domain name if you are going to do any article marketing. Many article directories like Ezinearticle.com will not allow you to place an affiliate link in your article or in your resource box. They will however let you place a link that forwards to an affiliate site.
GoDaddy.com makes it very easy and inexpensive to set this up. The first thing you need to do is come up with a domain name and see if it is available. On the GoDaddy website, you will see a box to start a domain name search. I recommend you keep your name short and simple; it should be something that people can remember without writing it down. I prefer to use .com or .net extensions. These are the most common and recognizable extensions on the web today. Others like .info, .org, and .biz are being used more and more. Once you find a domain name that is available all that remains is to purchase it. You will be able to purchase most domain names for less than $10 per year. They do have to be renewed every year and if you let them lapse, someone else could steal your domain.
When you purchase your domain, you will get a few items for free. Most services will give you a free e-mail address with limited storage as well as hosting for a limited web page. You may choose to set up your own personal home page, or simply forward your domain to your affiliate page. Forwarding is also provided free by most services.
You are now ready to start directing traffic to your personal site.

Setting up a proxy server for dummy. :)?
Friday, April 2nd, 2010Hey guys,
I want to set to set up a proxy site(like www.safelizard.com / www.hidemyass.com) but I’m kinda newbie in web hosting and stuff… So here are my questions
after I create my website…
What host should I choose?(I’ve heard Bluehost and Godaddy are good)
How much would registering a domain name cost me and after registering a domain name do I have to pay a monthly fee to retain it or is it a one time fee?
In case it’s monthly fee what happens if I just decide to abandon the domain and don’t pay the cost.. Would the domain be up for grabs again??
How much would a hosting the site cost me per-month(Bluehost charges about $4/month but I’m guessing the site would act sluggish for that low cost).. Do I need a dedicated server or if not what plan would suit my needs.
Is there any other way to monetize the site apart from adsense??
thanks in advance.
But there are a lot of proxies running all over the web… Someone, somewhere must be willing to host these sites..
5 Myths About Setting Up Your Own Personal Domain And Website Busted
Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Having your own domain – that is your own name (like “FirstNameSurname.com”) and setting up a Blog at that domain can bring you many benefits.
Financially, your own websites opens up a plethora of money making opportunities for you and your career. Socially, you will get to meet many different people from around the world and form friendships and business partnerships.
It will also bolster your confidence and make you stand out in a crowd. After all, not many people can say that they have secured a domain that is their own name (how many of your friends have a dotcom to their name? Right, few to none). And yet, even while knowing all of its benefits, very few people actually go on and purchase their own eponymous domain and set up their websites.
Why is this? Why are people not taking advantage of the great benefits of their own personalized domain?
This could be due very much to the fact that many people simple don’t know how simple, easy and effective it can be! Here are some of the major MYTHS about securing domains:
1. It’s Only For Businesses
This is one of the biggest myths around. Anyone can have a domain, just as anyone can have a Blog. In fact, you should be having a Blog at your very own domain INSTEAD of blogging on a shared domain such as blogger.com, since you’re not giving up control of your own content to blogger.com by doing so.
So anyone can have a domain, and especially a domain that is your own name. Once you have it, it will bring up a host of business opportunities for you that you never knew existed.
2. It’s Hard To Do
Perhaps around 5 to 10 years ago, the above may have been true. But with such amazing advancements in technology, creating and maintaining your website is a cinch.
Wordpress is one example of a great blogging platform you can set up on your own domain to start blogging. It’s extremely simple to use – just like using any writing program e.g. Microsoft’s “WORD” word processing program
3. It Takes A Lot Of Time To Set Up
This, again, is another myth that no longer holds true with the advent of new technology. You can have your domain and blog set up for you with many hosting providers in just a day or two!
And all you’ll really have to do is fill out a form and pay for them, which brings us to our next point.
4. It’s Expensive
Domains are at their lowest prices ever. You can easily secure your domain at less than $10/year. That’s less than what you would pay for dinner!
And charges for the hosting of your web site or Blog are just a few dollars every month. The amount you would invest in your domain is thus INSIGNIFICANT when compared to the great benefits you will reap.
5. It’s Hard To Maintain
Once your Blog is up and running, all you’ll need to do is to write a blog post every other day, which will take up barely any time once you get the hang of it!
A domain is cheap, and a Blog is easy to start up and maintain by anybody. In fact, everyone SHOULD get this combination for themselves as soon as possible, before their names are snapped up by their namesakes from around the world!
