Is Having a .info Domain Name for Your Website Worthwhile?

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

by David Underhill aka BareFootTech.

Deciding on a Domain Name for your planned or existing website can often be a harrowing and expensive proposition. Often the only gTLD or domain extension considered is a .com. There are several compelling reasons why a .info can be a better or equally valid choice.

Current Market value

Because of various promotions last year, and occasional specials, .info’s value is now deemed to be less than some other gTLDS.This doesn’t mean they are worthless. If the retail price was the same as other gTLDs would people still buy it? Yes of course , retail prices for .info’s at most Domain Name Registration sites are the same prices than .com domainsSuitability

.Info means information ,and is what most of the internet is all about. Imparting information about products and services a company is selling.

Information about your family ,business, neighbourhood, diseases or whatever else. Isn’t that exactly why you have a website ? www.minisite.info is a more descriptive url for minisite information than www.barefoottech.net/minisite/index.htmlAvailability

Because of the mindset of some people , “Free” or “Cheap” means “Valueless” , therefore they don’t use the gTLD .info for their web-sites. Other people have the flawed idea that .info can’t be a “Real” tld so they don’t get them for investment purposes. Therefore good keyword and search friendly names are often still available at the above “Bargain Prices” and are very suitable for use.

Even more suitable than choosing a less than search friendly name just because it is available as a .COM. Acceptability

Most users of the internet, i.e. the average websurfer, will use .info sites. You remember them, the ones the websites is being created for, utilise search engines and media listings to find a Website URL’s. They than use the relevant URL regardless of the .gTLD. Major websites, including several government agencies use .info for their advertised URL’s.

(e.g. NSW Countrylink Rail )

ConclusionsYes .Info are worth something.Value for money often (not always, but neither is all .com’s)Good names in .info can be worth a lot more than a lousy .comEveryone should investigate all gTLD’s and get rid of their ill informed prejudices.info is not the “Devils TLD” which is the attitude of some peopleThink not “cheap” ,think instead “Incredibly Great Value”

Need some domain info?

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Hey,
I got asked to make a business website for someone, and they want a legit website ‘dot com’.. now I have made websites before but I always used free hosting and what not, mainly because it was more of just a hobby for me..

So.. I need to find a good legit company that sells domain names and hosts the website and offers good bandwidth with email accounts tied to the domain and ftp capible..

Basically what I need is the works, this is a small company so I don’t think the bandwidth is going to be insanely high but still, looking for an anual payment also..

I have no real knowledge of working with domains and don’t want to go about this wrong so some info on this would be great,

Looking for a good legit company that offers hosting and domain registration..

How does this work exactly? Do I just register the domain and pay for it and then find a website hosting company and route to the domain or what? Or is there companys that offer it all, and what are some if so..

Thanks!

What if I don’t want my personal info to show up on Website Domain Registration Info sites?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I recently registered a domain name. I know that you can look up who owns certain websites on ‘Whois’ and other sites like that. If you look up my domain name on ‘Whois’ it includes my name, address, phone number, etc. I don’t want that available to the public. Is there any way to make that info private after the fact? Thanks in advance.

Change public info at ‘whois, etc, etc’ about my Website.?

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

I have website, and would like to change some contact information (my name, etc) as published on public information websites like Whois, etc. How can I go about that.

I do NOT need or want to change info at my site host/registrar – just change the public information that people view, when they search info about site owner, name, address, etc. Thank you.

Global Domains International Info ? What is Gdi and Why Should You Care?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

If GDI is something new to you, then you will find more information on it shortly. GDI is the company that has the exclusive rights to sell the .ws domains, which stands for website. This is what makes GDI unique. Exclusivity puts Global Domains International on a league of its own. The best part about all of this and the best part for you and me and everyone that needs more money, Global Domains International has decided to share it’s revenue with us.

GDI is applying the old rule that when you give something to someone, you will also get something in return. Call it win-win situation, call it “you win some and then I also win some”. The idea is that Global Domains International is selling the .ws domains pretty good because the .ws are a good alternative to .com names (I’m sure that you know that good .com domains are harder and harder to find).

And here’s what they did. GDI made a program which allows all its participants to earn an equal share of its profits. They realized that the more people they would help, the more money they would make. The main point here is that Global Domains International is a great way to make money online even if you are a complete beginner at it. To start making money with GDI, you just have to enter the 7 day free trial and get more information about Global Domains International. As soon as someone signs up to take the free trial as well, you are on your way to making money.

As soon as the 7 days are over, you will be billed for $10 which is the sum you must pay monthly for the GDI website and hosting (which is also provided by Global Domains International. For every single person that starts a GDI business under you, you will receive a $1 payment on a monthly basis and $1 for 5 levels deep. Everyone receives $1 throughout 5 levels deep.

I’ll show you a small example of the possibility of earning with the GDI company: Let’s say that you join GDI today and you start going through their material (they have a whole bunch of tools and information that will help you) until get a hang of what to do and how to do it. Then you can start advertising GDI and someone signs up for the GDI 7 day free trial. You help that person a little bit, by sending 2 or 3 emails and as a result of that help, that person also refers another person. This means that you are now making $2/month only because you’ve took the time to help someone get to know GDI.

And this is easy. And also, that person that is in your level 1 downline is also earning $1 per month as he signed up another person. If you keep this up, you’ll make a great residual income with GDI. And the best thing about Global Domains International is that you can only help the first level, the one under you, and from there on you can take your mind off of it, as from now they will copy what you done and so on and you will be paid for every person they sign up.
