How to Find the Right Web Hosting Company for your Online Business?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Once you’ve decided to start your online business, formulate a strategy of setting up your website for which you’d need to register a domain name and choose a good web hosting service. There are a number of web hosting companies operating in the market today. Hence, you need to play smart and do proper research before choosing a web hosting company for your online business.

The choice of a good web hosting provider is critical as the as the hosting services are an index of the accessibility of your website. A good web hosting service increases your brand value by making your website accessible to the world round the clock. Here are some good web hosting companies such as:

LimeDomains: Latest entrant in web hosting business; owned by Lime Group; One-Click Application Hosting Solution; the first ICANN accredited registrar to include powerful open source applications and a full featured hosting account with every new domain registered or transferred.

GoDaddy: A domain name registrar and web hosting company; sells online business related software and services such as spam-protected e-mail, secure socket layer (SSL) certificates, and Web-site creation tools.; currently the largest ICANN-accredited registrar in the world.

Network Solutions: ample storage, disk space and bandwidth, domain name registration, web hosting & email hosting services, 24 ×7 technical & customer support; until January 2009, more than 6.6 million domain names managed.

There are a number of important factors to be taken into consideration before finalizing a web hosting provider for your online business:

1.) Bandwidth required by your business: Depending upon your activity on your website such as blogging, uploading videos/audio streams etc., you should choose a hosting service. If you want to have an advanced website, ensure that the web hosting service supports programming languages such as Ruby, Perl, PHP, MySQL, CGI etc. Also, make sure that your web hosting company provides some user-friendly programs that would enable you to build your website.

2.) Technical support provided by the web host: This is one of the most important tenets to be considered before choosing a web hosting company for your online enterprise. Most of the operating web hosts claim that they provide round-the-clock technical support services. However, you need to find out whether they offer reliable and instant telephone, web chat and email support. Only after giving due consideration to these solutions offered by the company, you must make your final choice.

3.) Uptime provided by the web host: Again, many web hosts promote themselves by saying that they provider 99% uptime, which means that their servers remain fully operation 24 hours a day. You’ve a great online tool, Host Tracker, through which you can verify if the claim made by the host company is true or fake.

4.) Operating System used by the web host: Some web hosts use Linux while some use Windows or any other OS. However depending upon you business requirements, you need to find out which system is compatible to your website.

5.) Security offered by the company: Figure out whether the web host provides spam filtering or anti-virus protection as this is quite important if you don’t want your website to be spammed or attacked.

6.) Backup servers of the web host: If the web host that you’re looking forward to choose does not offer you back up servers, better look for a new one. So if you don’t wish to lose information and find out whether you need a dedicated or shared host, it’s better to choose a host that owns and operates its own data center.

7.) Terms and conditions of service: Read all the terms and conditions of the service carefully and see if they offer money back guarantee in case you feel dissatisfied with the services of the web host.

Hence, you need to play smart before making a choice of the webhost for your online business. A good web host would always update or notify you in case any problem arises. So, just don’t toil hard to find the cheapest web hosts as your website would suffer due to it in the long run.

I am going to go live with 30 different web sites at once. Any recommendation for a web hosting company?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

So far, I have found http://www.apollohosting.com/hosting/index.php
offers to host 10 different web sites sharing 200gb data transfer on the same plan for $21 a month. I do not know anything about their customer support. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can get more web sites hosted for less money?

Thanks
Thank you all for your help. As it turns out, I went with http://www.servage.net/?coupon=CUST19616. They offer 25 sites hosted with 600gb monthly bandwidth, 75gb of storage for just $6.43 a month. They say $7.50 per month, but they give you 2 months free, so it really comes out to be $90 for 14 months which is $6.43 a month.

Best Web Hosting Company ? When Your Business Matters To You

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

If you want to grow your business, it does help to have an attractive website design and great content, but don’t overlook the importance of a web hosting company. Not a lot of people have come to appreciate the role of a web host, but as you know it works just like a car battery, without it you can’t go anywhere.

The web host is what will put your website on the virtual environment for everybody to see. Ultimately, therefore, you would want only the best web host for your online business because you would not want to entrust your business to a company that does not have a 99.50% uptime guarantee at the very least. Or one that does not provide unlimited bandwidth and disk space, or provide efficient technical support. Technical support should be available via phone or live chat, 24/7 because you would need your web host to be able to attend to your website problems at once. Delayed responses can be critical to your business. You’d also want your web host to offer cPanel for your utmost convenience. When you want your online business to succeed, you have to be choosy when it comes to your web host.

The best web host is not necessarily the most expensive.  In like manner, the company that offers the highest fee may not be the best web host, either. When deciding whether the web host is good or not, therefore, the price should not be considered a paramount factor.

With thousands of options, it can be an overwhelming experience to choose a web host but you can make it less so by going over web hosting review sites first. Look for a third party review site in particular in order to get an honest and factual review.

Apparently, there are review sites that are more credible than the others, and these are what you should be on the lookout for. Credible web reviewers typically provide you with two review formats – tabular and narrative. The tabular review format enables you to see at a glance the companies you would want to engage the services of. The table shows a comparison of the different web hosting companies and their basic features. Narrative reviews are more detailed and encompassing, and further supported by customer testimonials. Make sure that the review focuses on the key elements of web hosting, particularly the uptime percentage, bandwidth, technical assistance, and control panel.

You should visit more than just one review site, never mind if that happens to be the most credible review site on the net. A single review cannot be conclusive. You have to take time to go over several sites so you can see if the data you have gathered from one particular review site are consistent with those from other sites. When you already have a web host in mind, make sure that you make a random search of customer testimonials for that particular web host because customer testimonials are based on actual experiences and these should help you arrive at a wise decision.

How do you take your “domain name” from one site builder company to another?

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

I want to change companies because I found a company that will give me more for my money. But, I registered my domain name with the first company. Is there a way that I can transfer it. I know that if I apply for the same domain name, it will come up as already being used by someone. And that someone is me. So can somebody explain this to me? How can I use my same domain name with the other company who will also host it for me?

Choosing a reliable Web Hosting company

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Are you looking for a reliable, stable and quality hosting company that you can bank upon? The answer would by default be Yes!

These days there are so many options available as far as web hosting plans and web hosting companies are concerned. A new customer would be utterly confused by the claims of each and every web hosting company – about their services and plans offered. But still there are few things that one can keep in mind before finalizing a web hosting company and its hosting plan.

There are quite a few things that one should know while looking out for a good hosting company.

Know your requirements. Do not get carried away by the discounts and bulk offers and additional services given to you as these may not be used. Selection of the plan that suits your needs is important. Does the web hosting company provide Linux hosting plans? Does the hosting company have a good user friendly CPanel control panel for the plans? Does the web hosting service provider provide round-the-clock customer support? Does the hosting company have ticketing or help desk systems? What kind of back up plans does the company have? Do they provide weekly data backups? How is the infrastructure support like? Does the web hosting company have DG Sets or options of UPS or any other mode of continuous power supply? What is the guaranteed up time of the web hosting service provider? When purchasing the web hosting plan, what kind of software and hardware are supported? What do they do to prevent security issues like hacking, virus attacks, etc.?

It is important to know these things and many more about your Web Hosting Company and its reliability. This is especially crucial when you are trying to launch an e-commerce site or trying to launch a site for online business. A 100% up time is ideally suited and important. Websites are like a virtual face of your company.

Remember this rule of thumb, we need to cater to the customer the very first time and first impression is the last one. You don’t get a second chance.  A reliable web hosting company would ensure that all of the concerns mentioned above have been addressed.

Your efforts to look out for a reliable and a genuine web hosting company with apt services would end here. You can reach us at www.getsimple.net
