I have bought a domain name on godaddy & want to sell it on ebay, how can I transfer it after payment?

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

I can deal with setting up the ebay aucion part because I’m an established ebay seller but don’t understand a) how you transfer the domain name to someone else {and look like I know what I’m doing at the same time!!!} b) how can I prove to the buyer that it is mine before he is willing to hand over the cash.

Cheers tech wizards!

I bought a domain name and paid for it for a year. Now, I’m using that domain name on this one hosting company?

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

I paid for the domain name for a year and it has only been 6 months

Basically, I used this domain name when I purchased a package from a hosting company, and I can (present tense) access my page by going to
www.mydomainname/myhostingcompany/index.html

But, when I tried looking up mydomainname.com at http://whois.domaintools.com/
It says it cannot find the domain name.

And, goDaddy (I bought the domain from them) also says the domain name is available to be purchased. I’m sure I didn’t mistype the domain name.

How could the domain name be available to be purchased when I have only been using it for 6 months. I don’t think that makes sense. And, if the domain name has indeed been canceled. I should not be able to access www.mydomainname/myhostingcompany/index.html anymore. Isn’t that right? My point is if the domain name has been canceled, why is it that I can still open that page which uses the domain name.

A bit confused here.
Hope someone can help :)
Thank you very much

If I bought a domain name from Yahoo?

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

A domain name from Yahoo a few months ago, how come I’m getting a bill for $30 from the “Domain Name Registry of America” for that domain name?
They want the money by August 28th. What’s up with that? They’re telling me if I don’t pay up it will mean “loss of your online identity.”
I am dismayed.

I bought a domain name and am kind of lost on hosting. I would really like to find free redirection?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

I have a domain name registered with Google (gdomains through godaddy).

I really love having everything handled through Google. I love the email, I’m used to the platform for my DNS settings, I like their file hosting, I have advertising credit, the registration price is perfect and includes 50 usernames and 90 CNAMES. The only thing is I really really don’t like the Google Sites hosting platform.

I know this isn’t ideal but I’m really not ready to do a full transfer to a new host. Basically I just want something that will allow me to redirect my already registered domain name to a basic webpage that I can create through the host site.

I have my own layout coded and everything and had my site up on Blogger, which was pretty close to how I want it in terms of features but it wasn’t giving me the freedom I wanted to add extra pages and things like that. To water it down my site is basically a “blog” but I need 5 separately archived pages so you can see how that would be a problem with something like Blogger. Especially with my CNAMES because blog sites don’t allow naked URLs.

I use Webs for free hosting on smaller projects but I’m not sure if I trust them with my domain, plus I can’t afford a premium package right now. I don’t need the extra storage space or any of the other perks of a package deal right away, I know if I start getting traffic I will need to upgrade but I already have more than enough assets through Google to get started.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips or even just hosting sites they would recommend that would be really helpful.
@ledfrog.com- Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly what I want to do, I just need to find a host that lets me do that.

I think my biggest issue right now is just the fact that most of the host sites I’m finding make me pay monthly for so many things that I’m already getting through Google for only $10 a year (like a domain name, subdomains, POP/IMAP email, image hosting, etc) and I don’t want to pay for all of it. I just want a place I can get my html up and start posting.

GoDaddy – bought new hosting, how do I transfer domain?

I just upgraded my GoDaddy hosting from the free one to the minimal paid one. How do I transfer my domain to this account? Can I do this alone or do I need to contact GoDaddy?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I have my whole site and all of my files on my GoDaddy account. I have a domain through them which came with free hosting. I purchased a higher level of hosting so I just want to know how to do it on that particular site.
